Pope John Paul II said that we are on a journey to heaven, and the presence of Christ in the Eucharist helps us stay on course. Chapter 6 of John's Gospel can be a solid foundation for our understanding of this statement of our Pope. Sometimes I think we Christians go about as baptized pagans, living the American dream and not seeing the reality of Christ among us, in Word proclaimed and Word made flesh. Perhaps we are so filled with things of the world that we do not hunger and thirst for the Body and Blood of Christ Jesus. Perhaps like the folks in our first reading, we prefer to return to slavery, bondage to sin instead of turning to our merciful Jesus who satisfies our every need. The Work the Father has given us is to believe in the one whom He sent. Let’s increase our efforts friends to hear the Word of the Lord and strive to put it into practice….blessings of peace, Fr. Dan
