MERRY CHRISTMAS! Today I suggest that you and I am a Mary instead of a Martha. You know the story of the two sisters well, and no doubt we have all been a Martha in our Christmas preparations. Now it is time to be a Mary, and quiet ourselves and sit calmly and peacefully with the Lord Jesus Christ. Enough of the fast hurried pace of getting ready for Christmas! We are much too much like Martha, busy about many things. Enough! “Be still and know that I am God.”  Jesus is the Lord of Christmas, the Lord of our lives, and He wants to come and visit with us, share with us the “knowledge of salvation” which is His coming into our lives and freeing us from sin. Jesus wants to gift us today with gifts of peace that stand guard over our minds and hearts; gifts of His joy that surpasses understanding, a joy no one can take from us; gifts of His love being poured into our hearts by the work of the Holy Spirit. It is said “better to give than receive” but unless we receive these gifts from the Lord Jesus we have so little to give. We cannot give what we do not have. Take time now, this very moment and allow the Lord Jesus Christ to be so a part of us that we cannot but give Him to others. Thank you for gifting us with your presence in our Catholic community. God loves you, and so do we…….Christmas peace and joy, Fr. Dan
