“Lord, heal my soul, for I have sinned against you.” Our response this weekend comes from a heart that knows it has sinned, along with a mind and spirit and body, and so Lord, heal not just my soul, but heal all of me. We want to be “totus tuus”, all yours! Isaiah asks the Lord” to remember not the events of the past;” we ask the Lord today to not remember our sins but heal our memories so that He can do “something new” in us. Our gracious Lord reminds us that He has dropped our transgression “into the sea of forgetfulness.” Praise God! If the Lord isn't hanging on to our past, why should we! Through the waters of Baptism we belong to Christ Jesus and in the words of St Paul today, “He has put His seal upon us and given the Spirit in our hearts as a first installment. “In this Spirit we cry out “Abba” God is our father, our papa, our daddy. What a gift! and how blest are we to be recipients of such a gift. Let's treasure this gift of God and allow it to lead us, guide us and instruct us, as Jesus said it would. Let's especially ask this Spirit to lead us and stay with us in the desert of Lent that is rapidly approaching….blessings of peace, Fr. Dan
