“Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place my trust in Thee.” Last Friday we celebrated the beautiful feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The Book of Lamentations reminds us that the favors of the Lord are not exhausted, and as we draw near to the Heart of Christ we experience favor upon favor from our Lord and Savior. The favors of the Lord continue to flow from His pierced Heart. Especially the favors of forgiveness and mercy. Our response this weekend “Lord, it is good to give thanks to you” is so fitting for us because the Lord loves a grateful heart and our spirit, joined to the Spirit of God, breaks forth in thanksgiving to God. As the gospel indicates, we have to grow in this grateful spirit, we have to look around and see all the reasons for us to thank God for his continued blessings. The seed of gratefulness has been planted in each of us, and if we will do a little watering (practicing?) we will blossom into people of thanksgiving. The kingdom of God here on earth started small (Jesus and 12) and look how it has grown! It can be the same for you and me, as we spend just a few moments each day giving thanks to the Lord we will grow in our prayer of thanksgiving. Little ones, let us “give thanks to the Lord for He is good!” love ya, Fr. Dan
