“Lord, you have the words of everlasting life.” The word of God has echoed for countless generations throughout the history of humankind. It has been “spirit and life” to those who desire to hear the word, to those who desire to put that word into practice. To come to hear and know the word of God is to come to hear and know the Word of God made flesh in the person of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Jesus is bigger than the 10 Commandments in our first reading; in fact, He gives us a new commandment “to love one another as I have loved you.” Jesus invites us into a relationship with Him and the one He calls Father, a relationship that is rooted in love, the Holy Spirit given to each of us. This love affair is seen in Jesus' laying down His life and taking it up again to be a constant sign to us of His great love. We have only to look at the Eucharist to see this sign, and more than a sign, it is truly Jesus, His Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity! We have only to receive the Eucharist to fall more deeply in love with this Jesus who is the Word that leads you and me to eternal life…..have a disciplined lent my friend, Fr. Dan
