“Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid.” As Jesus spoke to His disicples they likely didn’t know what was coming, the most stressful time of their lives. They would be facing persecuation, jail, and death itself.  At one point, gathered in the upper room they waited for something, actually SOMEONE, the Holy Spirit who would quicken their spirits from fear to boldness and in that Spirit the disciples continued the mission of the Lord Jesus. Perhaps we think things are going well, “no problem” as many say today. Who can say that at some point we too are going to need the help of the Holy Spirit in stressful times also. Lets keep our eyes on Penteocst and receive a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit. It is this Spirit of Jesus that He says will “instruct you in everything and remind you of all that I told you.” (John 14:26) Lets say “yes” to the Spirit of Jesus to lead us, guide us and instruct us. Lord Jesus, pour the living waters of the Spirit again in my Baptism; stir into flame the gift received at my Confirmation. Come Holy Spirit, Come!….fr dan
